Mathematics for Social Scientists
Pedram Safari
Harvard University, Fall 2011 - Spring 2012[Syllabus (pdf)] [Assignments] [Announcements] [Comments]
This year-long course is meant to be a fast-track and conceptual coverage of mathematics necessary for the students of social sciences. It combines courses which normally span several semesters into a single, coherent course. The audience includes, but is not limited to, graduate students of government, education, psychology, public health, etc.
In the Fall semester, the focus has been on probability and single-variable calculus. In the Spring half of the course, we will pick up the discussion of integration, and will then move on to multi-variable calculus, matrix algebra and more advanced mathematical analysis.
You might come across other math course offerings whose syllabi overlap with ours, but at a different level or pace, or with different audience in mind. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need help to decide if this course is right for you.
