Prof. Dr. Matthias Schütt

Research Area: Algebraic and Arithmetic Geometry

deutsch

Current lectures:      Algebraic Geometry (Tue 12:30-14:00 in A310, Thu 12:30-14:00 in F442 -- both in the main building of Leibniz University at Welfengarten)
Note: The exercise sessions scheduled for 24.11.2009 have been moved to 23.11.2009, 12:30-14:00 in G012.

Research interests: Arithmetic of K3 surfaces, in particular singular K3 surfaces and K3 surfaces of high Picard number or with automorphisms
Enriques surfaces - arithmetic and geometry
Zeta-functions, fields of definition
Supersingular surfaces, in particular K3, Fermat and Horikawa surfaces
Surfaces with maximal Picard number and with extra structure (automorphisms etc)
Elliptic curves and surfaces
Modular forms (especially with CM or non-congruence)
Calabi-Yau threefolds - modularity and non-liftability
Modularity of higher-dimensional Calabi-Yau varieties

Status quo: Junior professor at the Institute for Algebraic Geometry at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
Member of the DFG graduate school 1463 Analysis, Geometry and String Theory
From September 2008 until June 2009 I was a postdoc at the Math Department of Københavns Universitet.

News:     Joint paper with Ron Livne and Noriko Yui on the modularity of K3 surfaces with non-symplectic group actions to appear in Mathematische Annalen
